about

The members of Mu-Theory, the band, share a common affection for the music of Steel Dan (you know, Reeling In The Years, Ricky Don;t Lose That Number and heaps more). Donald Fagen and Walter Becker grew up in the jazz tinged New York suburbs and wrote a lot about that era and the sounds and of course were heavily influenced by the style.

Mu-Theory decided to attempt a tribute to our idols and out of it came this song. Ian wrote the lyrics and the riff, Tony wrote the melody and the cool "turnaround", Chris the guitar solo, Stu the amazing drum solo and Pat held it all down with a great jazzy groove - so this one is a band song.

lyrics

Now way back so long
A couple of lads Walt and Don
Heard Duke & Bird Jazz radio
Charlie Parker New York Metro

Beatnik boys turtle necks
Smoking dope and Lucky Strikes
Bad rock Leather Canary
Red Balloon, customary

Chorus
---------
We’re playing all night
Hold tight
Mu Theory

Black cow drink it down
Cuervo gold world renown
Rum and coke make me a zombie
Time to tour in the Kombi

Count 4 add 2
Slash chord sounds like Mu
Sharp nine in time
Flat five we’re’ alive, yeah
